|
Purpose: This study was to determine the overall appearance of nurses by the general public.
Methods: Cross-sectional design and structured questionnaires related to images for nurses were employed. A total of 295 people participated in this study. The data were analyzed using t-test and one-way ANOVA.
Results: The images for nurses were scored at 98.62 out of 145. The top two images were ¡®neat & clean¡¯ and ¡®valuable & rewarding job¡¯, while the two low ranked images were ¡®assistant of doctor¡¯ and ¡®performing independent nursing¡¯. People viewed nurses as professionals; however, they also perceived nurses were assisting doctors and not implementing independent nursing care.
Conclusion: Therefore we need to develop contents that will help nurses improve professional capacity within clinical fields, continuously monitor the overall images of nurses, and provide positive images through mass media.
